Caldwell Chapel at LPTS
Louisville was once known for its many Presbyterian churches and Presbyterian Seminary. After the Northern and Southern branches merged in 1983 to form the PCUSA, a liberal culture took control. Membership numbers have declined considerably over many decades.
Recently, Louisville's Albert Moeller, President of the Southern Baptist Seminary, reported in his Briefing podcast, that the PCUSA is firing its missionaries and has ended its mission agency.
But –in other news– a challenge to the PCUSA status quo was begun in 2023 by ‘Redeemed Zoomer’ Richard Ackerman, a young mainline Presbyterian, and his vision has spread to other mainline denominations.
Known as the Reconquista, it is described as a “long-term attempt to reverse this liberal trend and restore the Mainline Protestant churches to the beliefs that they were founded on...”
Some social issues are addressed here and 95 Theses for the PCUSA were proclaimed on October 23, 2023, by signees from 18 Presbyteries.
In Kentucky, Georgetown, Shelbyville, Lexington, Bowling Green, Madisonville, London and Middlesboro are on the map showing Reconquista churches.
Ackerman's YouTube Channel has 550K+ subscribers. He says PCUSA is a mission field. Thumbs up!
