Hey can you hear me? (virtual presentation)
[Yes, we can see you and we can hear you. You have two minutes. Please proceed.]
OK, yeah just briefly wanted to give a little different perspective.
I'm an attorney and I've worked for the Kentucky Supreme Court and I also have a background in product liability.
So I’m just coming at it from a product angle and a product safety angle.
Let’s assume for the sake of argument that these masks actually work and they are going to protect our sweet little Cassidy on chemotherapy, because I think we've all established that it's really the medically fragile and the compromised we're really talking about, so assuming that even works, is there a risk to the healthy children of wearing this product in a way that it was not meant to be worn?
And just to explain that—like-- you can have a product that is safe for a certain use, but it's not safe if, say, you have too much of it.
For example, you have an ache, and you’ve taken Ibuprofen, that's fine, but if you take the whole bottle of Ibuprofen, you can become very ill, so that would be misuse.
So, say if the mask is safe, I know you go get chemotherapy-- if you get a shot, they're going to give you an infusion (unclear word); they gave you a medical mask to put on, to stop the droplets, and the minute you're done--the minute that injection stops, they take it off and they put it in the biohazard. So that's a brief mask wearing.
It’s wearing it for nine hours a day-- which is what my student has to wear it, that going to be dangerous, and I've sent you documentation of research that I'm not going to say answers the question yes or no, but it certainly creates a lot of questions that I think should be looked into as to whether this extended mask wearing will cause long-term oxygen deprivation, too much carbon dioxide, and neurological problems that may not show up till later.
I'm talking about long-term use in children and it's not being looked into and this could be misuse and I hope you will check that out.
Thank you.
