An excellent TALK (Technology Assoc. of Louisville Ky) program held on May 11 at Flexential featured Meghan Sandfoss, Executive Director for the Kentucky Office of Broadband Development.

In collaboration with the Center for Rural Development in Somerset, Ky., the Office of Broadband Development is participating in a crowd-sourced speed test project to gather data about existing internet service across the Commonwealth. The Office of Broadband Development was established in 2022 as the central broadband planning and coordination entity to encourage, foster, develop and improve broadband within the Commonwealth. The Office aims to improve broadband accessibility for unserved and underserved communities and populations, drive job creation, promote innovation, and expand markets for Kentucky businesses and industries, and serve the needs of Kentucky's agricultural, educational, health care, and public safety systems, governmental operations, and citizens.

Starlink is the internet communication satellite constellation of SpaceX. “The low-Earth orbit constellation delivers fast, low-latency internet service to locations where ground-based internet is unreliable, unavailable, or expensive. The first phase of the constellation consists of five orbital shells.”
SpaceX plans to launch 100 rockets or more in 2023 so maybe internet access will beam to all.
